Something Delicious | |
I think I might be too highly suggestible when it comes to food. I am reminded of an incident dating back to late 2001, in which a discussion in Government class about the shelf-life of Twinkies prompted an unhealthy preoccupation with the spongy treat. It lasted for nearly three weeks. All the while I thought about twinkies every day; the golden cake, the sweet filling, the magic of it all. These were not fleeting thoughts. They infiltrated my mind, keeping me from my studies, or rather, my television viewing next to my books, during commercials at least. Finally, after tiring of the many twinkie related conversations he was subjected to, my dear brother Jeff ended the madness by presenting me with a box of twinkies. I ate one, and it was really a letdown after all my hype. That was a pretty sad day.
Nowadays I worry that with the endless commercials for White Castle in Columbus, I might start yearning for those square burgers. I don't know if i've ever had a square burger. Maybe this is the end of my vegetarian lifestyle. It's probably for the best. Who isn't a vegetarian these days? It's terribly trendy - like sushi, and those coats with the furry collars.
So the point is, I really wish I had a grilled cheese sandwich right about now.
