Giving Thanks | |
This Thanksgiving, I’ve decided to give you a glimpse into my world with a festive list.
So enjoy my holiday cop-out, because nothing interesting has happened in the last week.
The following are things I, Jeanne Goshe, am thankful for:
New dishwashing liquid. I’m mere centimeters away from finishing the lemon “aromatic release” Joy dishwashing liquid that I’ve been suffering through for almost 6 months.
I’ve never liked the sweet almost meringue-like smell of it, but I didn’t want to take the easy way out, so I put up with it.
But now, I am just a few very liberal uses away from finishing the bottle, and moving on.
Don’t you let me down, lemon Ajax.
Heat. Mine doesn’t work right now, and that really makes me appreciate the times that it does.
Cream cheese. It’s good on almost everything: Saltines, graham crackers, bagels, any kind of sweet bread/loaf (cranberry loaf, pumpkin loaf, banana loaf, etc…), Oreos, pretzels, and more.
There are so many possibilities if you open your eyes and your heart to this oft-overlooked spread.
Fate. It’s funny, isn’t it? For instance, the battery light was on in my car as I drove home from the grocery store on Friday, and when I finally broke down just blocks from my home, who was behind me?
The AAA Emergency Battery Repair truck! They didn’t stop or anything, but it was still pretty weird.
My friend Hannah. Not only did she come to see me on the side of the road when my car broke down, but she also picked me up from school that cold and dismal day that my bike was stolen.
She’s a good friend. (Also, she scolded me for not including that part in the last story.)
The lack of house centipedes in my apartment. It’s been two weeks since the last sighting.
Now I only dream about them a couple nights a week.
The Leap Frog Explorer talking globe. My mom bought it for me last spring, but I didn’t give it the attention it deserved until quite recently.
Thanks to the globe, I can locate the Falkland Islands and Bhutan. I am sure to make friends now, but how will I ever know if it is me they like, or just the globe?
